At first glance, the 2024 Kia EV9 has the same boxy style as the iconic Kia Soul. However, this fully electric SUV has an unmistakably generous full size with a six or seven-passenger seating capacity, depending on which of the five trims you’re driving. Learn about the stunning electric driving range and other incredible features of this EV SUV today.
Unveiling the Future of Eco-Friendly Sophistication

The entry-level EV9 is the Light RWD trim, which comes with an electric drive motor that provides an output of 215 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft of torque. This EV can reach 60 MPH in 7.7 seconds. You can enhance the performance of this EV SUV by toggling selectable drive modes (Normal, Eco, Sport, and My Mode).
The estimated driving range when the electric battery is fully charged is roughly 230 miles. This RWD EV has an energy efficiency of 99 MPGe in the city, 77e MPG on the freeway, and 88e MPG combined.
Charging
For drivers, charging is a major consideration when it comes to EV vehicles. The Light Range RWD gives drivers multiple charging options, such as the Level 1 charger that can restore the battery to 100% in about 64 hours. The most common charging method for EV drivers is an at-home Level 2 charger, which can recharge the battery overnight or in just under seven hours.
If you’re on the road, and you need to quickly recharge the battery, the Light RWD is compatible with DC fast chargers. A Level 3 charger using 50 kW can charge the battery to 80% in about an hour, while a Level 3 charger using 350 kW can charge the battery in 20 minutes. This EV also has a regenerative braking system that helps the drive battery last longer by transforming kinetic energy into power used by the electric motor.
Driver Assistance
Another highlight of the EV9 is the assortment of driver-assist features that come standard with the model. The blind spot collision warning is paired with an avoidance assist program that uses steering support to prevent changing lanes when another vehicle is detected in the EV’s blind spot. The forward collision system has sophisticated technology that can detect cyclists, oncoming traffic in junction turning, pedestrians, direct oncoming traffic, and more.
If you get nervous about pulling off certain parking maneuvers, the EV9 is ready to support you with front and rear parking sensors. If your front or rear bumper gets too close to an object, the EV9 will emit an alert so you can hit the brakes in time.
The EV9 has a distinct appearance and a terrific electric range that makes it ideal for daily driving. Drop by Coughlin Kia of Lancaster in Lancaster, OH for a test drive.
