For example, if one wheel encounters a slippery patch of road, the K5s other three wheels can keep the sedan stable and connected to the road. However, if one wheel loses traction in a two-wheel-drive vehicle, the car could lose control.
Another advantage to all-wheel drive is cornering ability and handling. There are situations where a vehicle needs extra turning ability, especially in inclement weather. With all four wheels pushing the K5 tightly around a corner, there’s little opportunity to spin out or lose traction. However, a two-wheel-drive sedan may have trouble during cornering as the car’s rear starts to slide away from the turn.
Lastly, overall stability improves with all-wheel drive. When a sedan is maneuvering around obstacles or corners, its weight can shift to different areas. If the weight pushes toward the rear of a front two-wheel-drive sedan, the front wheels become less stable. With all-wheel drive, any weight placed throughout the K5 will fall over a powered wheel, working to keep the car moving.
