3 Family Restaurants Worth the Drive Near Lancaster, OH

The fine city of Lancaster, OH is known for its parks, nature preserve, biking trails, and events. And when the entire family needs to refuel after enjoying the area’s beauty, the city does not disappoint. The following family restaurants are some of our favorites.

1. Castaways

You’ll appreciate the cozy and quaint dining area and friendly service here at this locally-owned restaurant. They use the freshest ingredients available, and they get their meat from the local Bay Food Market, so you know you’re getting fresh products. Their specialty is steak, seafood, pizza, and sandwiches. We like to start with a chilled shrimp cocktail or a basket of oysters before enjoying the main meal.

We then recommend the sirloin steak for two, the seafood shrimp platter, or the oyster sandwich. The dinners come with your choice of two sides, like grilled mushrooms, homemade coleslaw, or baked potato. Order a cheeseburger, fried shrimp, chicken tenders, or sirloin steak for the kids. All of the kids’ meals come with fries as well. Castaways is located at 1500 N. High St. and they are open Tuesday through Saturday.

2. Scramblers

Stop here for a great breakfast or lunch. Try the avocado omelet, the Wisconsin scrambler, the chicken and waffle, the Westgate skillet, the breakfast tacos, or the crab cake benny. Another popular choice is the bottomless griddle items, which are all-you-can-eat. The kids can have the yogurt parfait, the stuffed French toast, or the banana nut cakes along with a glass of chocolate milk or orange juice.

For lunch, we suggest the turkey club wrap, the triple-decker BLT, the Monte Cristo sandwich, or the Angus cheeseburger. If you’re looking for something on the healthier and lighter side, try their soup and salad combo. They make different homemade soups every day. Scramblers is open seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and it is located at 1377 Ety Rd.

3. Pizza Cottage

Everyone loves pizza, so treat the family to this locals’ favorite. Start with an order of garlic bread, mozzarella sticks, or wings while you decide on which pie to order. We like the BLT, the Whole Hog, the Mexican, the spicy Thai chicken, or the white pizza. You can also create your own. They even offer a gluten-free cauliflower crust. Do you feel like a sandwich or pasta dish instead? Try the veggie sub or the fettuccini alfredo.
